


Meet the team
Duncan Barr
Duncan is a graduate of Oxford University where he gained a BA in Politics and Economics. His professional career started with Deloitte in 1982 and he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985. He spent two years with Deloitte in their St Louis, USA office from 1986 to 1988 and subsequently worked as a Senior Manager with Coopers & Lybrand in Leeds until 1993. This was followed by two years with a medium-sized practice in Bradford, before he founded DBA in 1995.
Duncan heads up the firm and is personally involved with the service delivered to every client. Many clients have enjoyed considerable success and growth whilst being clients of the firm and the service delivered has often evolved from start-up advice to improvements in accounting systems to staff incentivisation packages and finally exit strategies. Duncan is closely involved at each step of this journey as a valued and trusted adviser.
Chris Hastings
Chris started out in the accountancy profession in Leeds in 1999 after completing his BA(Hons) degree at Huddersfield University. Chris passed his ACCA exams in August 2001 and joined DBA in June 2006 from another firm of Leeds accountants.
He is involved in all aspect of general practice work, including accounts preparation, tax planning and management accounts work.
Chris works throughout the year with some of our larger clients, providing Directors with up to date management accounts information to help them run their businesses better.
Andrea Gill
After having a family Andrea started her career in accountancy in 2001 qualifying first as an Accounting Technician and then as an Chartered Certified Accountant in March 2009. She joined DBA in July 2011.
Her role entails all aspect of general practice work including general accounts preparation, company secretarial work and tax planning.
Andrea is particularly proficient in advising clients who are starting out in business and need advice regarding their bookkeeping systems.
Hayley Heaney-Scholefield
Hayley has worked in various accounts departments in industry since leaving school and passed her Accounting Technician qualification in 2005. She started working for an accountancy practice in 2008 and joined DBA in August 2011.
Hayley is responsible for the DBA payroll and book-keeping services, providing clients with their monthly payrolls and keeping their accounts information accurate and up-to-date.
Jo Anderson
Jo joined the DBA team in 2009, bringing with her ten years’ experience of working with the Sage Line 50 software suite. Jo is fully trained and accredited by Sage and sits on their User Panel offering advice on how the software could be improved.
Jo conducts bespoke training sessions for clients and also provides consultancy services in areas such as tailoring reports, linking systems with banking software and improving credit control procedures.
Ann-Louise Collins
Ann-Louise is a graduate of Northumbria University with a HND in Business and Finance and a degree in Accountancy.
She is a qualified Chartered Tax Advisor and has worked for the last 12 years with independent firms of accountants throughout the North of England. She specialises in the direct tax issues faced by SMEs and their owners/managers.
Ann-Louise joined DBA in October 2010 and her role in the firm is to enhance the tax planning service currently offered and to provide specialist expertise in areas such as Inheritance Tax Planning.
